If it points to say, the PRR mini, you would get default rolling stock and none of your MSTS 'main' installed trainsets. Just guessing here.

If the RE link you are using actually accesses the main install, when you get inside the consist editor part, instead of clicking new, look in the drop down list for a CLW prefixed consist file. If you find one, click edit and it will open a box with the engine in it, and the rest of diesel library will be above it.

Just curious, are you using (train.exe -toolset) on your Editor icon link? or launcher.exe

Thanks for the tips. I was successful in creating a consist for exploring routes and exchanging engines in existing consists. Regarding what I am using, I have no icon on the desktop. I get to the Activity editor via the program menu in XP. Lots to learn yet.

Glad you have resolved the issue!

I think the default program menu link leads to:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\launcher.exe" -runeditor
That is just fine for running your main route's editor, since launcher uses the registry to locate and run the original install's train.exe tools.

If you also have a mini route installed separately, the editor link for it should be:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\train.exe" -toolset

That should be the Target line of a shortcut made from the train.exe which is inside that independent mini's directory. If you try and use launcher.exe from a mini, it will locate and run the main's editor tools, and not the mini's.

Confused yet?

If you mean Trainz 2006, you might get help at this TrainSim forum:

This is a train sim, forum, not an Apple iTune forum. Try holding the Shift key when you delete. This should ask you if you really want to remove the file, and will remove the file without using the recycle bin, if your system is working properly.
